How to make Samvat Rice
To prepare this main dish recipe, take a bowl and add barnyard millet or samak rice in water. Soak these for a few hours. In the meantime. place a pan over medium flame and heat refined oil in it. When the oil is hot enough, add the cumin seeds in it. Let them crackle and saute them until they turn aromatic. Now, add the ginger paste along with finely chopped green chillies. Saute these for some time.
Now, add the potato cubes in it and mix it well with the other ingredients. Make sure you cook these until they soften. Now, check the rice. Drain the water and add the rice in the pan. Mix them well. Pour the water in pan and stir all the ingredients once. Sprinkle sendha namak, turmeric powder and black pepper powder. Mix these in and cover the rice. Let these cook until the water dries up.
Once done, take it off the flame and transfer these in a bowl. Serve these hot with some curd to enjoy!
